Insurance Coverage
FAQs
Important Note: Insurance coverage is a benefit provided by your plan and is not guaranteed.
Clients are encouraged to verify their coverage details before starting services.
Are your services covered by insurance?
Yes! Nutrition counselling services provided by a Registered Dietitian (RD) are often covered under extended health benefits plans in Canada. Coverage varies depending on your insurance provider and specific plan.
How do I know if I’m eligible for coverage?
Please check your benefits booklet or contact your insurance provider directly.
Look for coverage listed under “Registered Dietitian” or “Nutrition Services.”
Common providers that cover RD services include Sun Life, Manulife, Canada Life, and Blue Cross.
How does billing and reimbursement work?
- Clients pay upfront for all services and packages.
- After each session, you will receive an itemized receipt that includes:
- My name and Registered Dietitian credentials
- My registration/license number
- The date and description of the service
- The session fee
- My name and Registered Dietitian credentials
- You can then submit your receipts to your insurance company for reimbursement.
Can you direct bill my insurance company?
At this time, I do not offer direct billing.
Clients are responsible for submitting their receipts to their insurance provider and managing reimbursements directly.
Will everything included in a package be covered?
Only the nutrition counselling sessions (initial consultation and follow-ups) are eligible for insurance coverage.
Additional services such as Nutrigenomix testing, nutrient analysis, or meal planning guides are considered program bonuses and are not typically reimbursed.
What if my insurance only covers part of the session fee?
If your insurance plan covers only part of the session (for example, $100 of a $190 session), you are responsible for the remaining balance.
You can also submit multiple receipts across different benefit years if you are continuing services long-term.
